SRINAGAR (ONS) – The ski resort of Gulmarg and other higher reaches in Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall on Saturday, with the weather bureau here forecasting more snow in high altitude areas and scattered rain in the valleys plains in the coming 24 hours.
The director at the regional meteorological centre here, Sonam Lotus, said that moderate to heavy snowfall was likely in areas along the Line of Control during the period.
Hilly areas will remain overcast, with heavy rains at some places, he said. But the western disturbance will begin to weaken after 24 hours.
Temperatures have dipped markedly in Kashmir over the past days, particular after heavy snowfall in mountain regions at the end of November. Mercury had dropped below the freezing point at night recently.
