SRINAGAR (ONS) – Repeating their call for an indefinite protest strike from Saturday, valleys bakers today asked all traders and shopkeepers linked to the trade to make the stir against “the governments indifference a success.
The trade had given the government until December 8 to meet its demand of hiking roti rates in view of what it termed as a huge rise in the prices of wheat-flour and firewood in the past years.
At a meeting of the Bread-makers Union here, bakers said that they had been compelled to go on strike as the government had paid no heed to its concerns and demands.
The government should break its silence on this issue forthwith, it said.
