JAMMU – Four people were killed when a passenger taxi, they were travelling in, skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge in hilly Kishtwar district of.
“A passenger taxi on way from Reasi to Kelad in Himachal Pradesh via Padder Valley in Kishtwar, yesterday rolled down into Thumb nullah at Gulabgarh area,” police sources here said.
They said that police and locals on receiving information rushed to the spot and launched the rescue operation.
The deceased were identified as Pritam Singh of Punjab, Kuldeep Raj, son of Hari Ram of Kalakote, Puran Kumar, son of Om Parkash of Rajouri and Raghunath (driver) of Arnas, district Reasi.
Meanwhile some of the passengers namely Dev Raj, son of Ram Parkash, Ajit Kumar, son of Pritam Kumar and Pradesh Singh, son of Sat Pal, all the residents of Reasi had a narrow escape as they managed to jump out of the vehicle. “A case has been registered and investigations are in progress,” police said.
