SRINAGAR: A day after the chief judicial magistrate, Rajiv Gupta, served notice on station house officer, Kralkhud, Aftab Ahmad, on contempt of court for alleged delay in filing report in Danish Farooq case, the court on Saturday sent the boy on police remand till December 9.
Official sources said the SHO filed his reply before the court through chief prosecuting officer today, praying that the delay in submitting the report was due to his preoccupation with curfew-related duties and that family members of Danish had not come to collect the report from the police station.
He has told the court that its orders had reached him with delay and that he had prepared the report as soon as the directions came, sources said, adding that the parents of Danish Farooq did not go back to the police station to collect the report or inquiring about it.
The court, according to sources, had only asked the SHO to file a reply and not sought his personal appearance, as reported earlier.
Sources said the court held that Danish was not a minor as his age was 16 years. It sent him to police remand till next date of hearing, i.e. December 9.which.
Pertinently, the CJM had issued a notice against Aftab Ahmad on Friday in proceedings of contempt of court and directed the SHO to file reply and statement of facts by or before December 1.
Danish was whisked away by Kral Khud police on Monday outside the lower court after he was granted bail in another case registered against him in Shaheed Gunj police station.
