NEW DELHI – The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Tuesday said India rejects factually incorrect and misleading references to Jammu and Kashmir by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
In response to a question on Resolutions adopted during the 39th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Djibouti from November 15-17, an official MEA spokesperson said: “We note with regret that the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has once again made factually incorrect and misleading references to matters internal to India, including the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an integral part of India.”
“We reject all such references/resolutions.
This is not the first time the OIC came up with such remarks on Jammu and Kashmir and India.
Earlier in August, India condemned the OIC remarks on Jammu and Kashmir, which has been termed as an occupied country by India.
MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin had said: “We have noted that there is an erroneous and factually incorrect mention about an integral part of India by the OIC in its communiqué issued at its Fourth Extraordinary Summit held in Mecca on August 14-15, 2012. This is wrong, unacceptable, and we reject it.”
Earlier, the OIC communique had stated, “The Summit affirms its solidarity and full support for Sudan, Somalia, Afghanistan and Jammu and Kashmir, Iraq, Yemen, Ivory Coast, the Union of Comoros and the Republic of Turkish-Cyprus in addressing the challenges facing these countries.”
