Incentive of Rs. 22.42 lakhs to be provided to Farmers
KULGAM – Farm Machinery Mela was held at Kulgam today during which District Development Commissioner Kulgam, Jehangir Mir said that use of modern technology and Machinery could lead the State towards self-sufficiency. He advised farmers to Coordinate with agriculture department and avail benefits of the schemes being launched by the department, so as to realize self-reliance in agriculture production. He advised farmers to set up income generating Agri- based units like Bee keeping, Mushroom, Vegetables and Flower cultivation for improving their socio-economic status.
Chief Agriculture officer Kulgam Nigeen Ahmad lone said that department of agriculture has been organizing Farm Machinery Mela with the aim to adopt the latest research, technology and Machinery in agriculture sector. He said that such Melas facilitate farmers to select the Agri Machinery and other tools of their own choice at negotiable rates from authorized dealers at their doorsteps.
On this occasion several authorized dealers displayed various agriculture machinery and agricultural equipments and other tools.
Present among others were officers and officials of the department besides large number of farmers. The farmers appreciated the efforts of agriculture department for organized Farm machinery melas. Farmers of Sub-Division Kulgam purchased 7tractors, 3 Power tellers, 150 irrigation Pump seats, 25 foot sprayer, 5 Power Sprayer and 28 Poly Green houses for which department of agriculture will provide Rs. 22.42 lakhs as incentive to the farmers
