Qasba Orders On Spot Demolition Of Illegal Structure
SRINAGAR – Continuing with its anti-polythene drive in the city, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today seized at least150 kilograms of polythene across 11 wards in the city.
The banned polythene bags were seized from consumers and roadside vendors, said Media Relations Officer of the SMC.
Todays drive was in continuation with the comprehensive anti-polythene drive by the SMC, which had formulated and deployed special anti-polythene teams in the city.
We have declared an all out war against the menace of polythene. Coming days will see more drives against the menace, which includes education and awareness about ill-effects of polythene, said SMC commissioner Dr G.N. Qasba.
Meanwhile, Commissioner SMC Dr Qasba along with chief enforcement officer Hakeem Ejaz inspected a site at Shaheed Ganj, opposite Neelam Cinema, to look into the matter of an unauthorized construction. The SMC had received a tip off about the illegal construction. The SMC commissioner ordered on-the-spot demolition of the structure, the media relations officer added.
