KARACHI – The match between arch-rivals Pakistan and India ended in a lacklustre 0-0 draw in Sultan of Johor Cup Junior Hockey Tournament in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Wednesday.
It was Pakistans second point in the tournament, after a 3-3 draw against New Zealand that was followed by a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Australia. The Pakistanis trail at sixth spot in the six-nation tournament because of their below-par showing so far.
But India, having accumulated seven points, lead the championship table. India had earlier recorded a 2-0 win over Australia and a 3-1 triumh against five times world junior champions Germany.
India, in spite of their attacking show throughout the tournament and in this match as well, failed to win a single penalty corner while Pakistan could only manage one.Arsalan Qadir had an opportunity to seal the win for Pakistan in the 64th minute but his shot went straight at Sushant Tirkey, who managed to deflect it.
