Distributes Cheques worth Rs 2.80 Lakh at Kulgam
KULGAM – Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo distributed cheques worth Rs. 2.80 lakh among 31 beneficiaries at a function organized by State Rehabilitation Council here today. These beneficiaries include two young widows who got Rs. 20,000 each under the scheme One Time Marriage Assistance to Young Widows.
Speaking at the occasion, the Minister reiterated governments resolve to reach out far flung areas for redressal of public grievances. She said Deputy Commissioners have been asked to identify the deserving persons in their respective areas so that those could be benefitted under various welfare and financial assistance schemes of Social Welfare department.
The Minister also stressed the need for transparent distribution of financial assistance, adding she is personally monitoring that the old age pension and other financial assistance percolates to the deserving persons. She said 05 lakh person are being provided financial assistance yearly under various schemes of Social Welfare.
Director, State Rehabilitation Council, Hafaza Muzaffar, Director Social Welfare, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, officers of district administration Kulgam, Panches and Sarpanches of the area also attended the function.
