Jammu – Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) today accused the state government of failing to provide employment to youths, saying the appointment under the 1.5 lakh jobs announced under the Prime Minister’s package in 2010 are being carried out at a snail’s pace.
“The state government had announced the provision of 1.5 lakh jobs under PMs package in July 2010, which were to be filled in next five years, but in the first 28 months only 1060 candidates from Kashmir valley have been appointed,” JKNPP Chairman, Harsh Dev Singh said here.
He sought timely and early honouring of the project with equitable share of the jobs to all three regions including Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
The government had further announced provision of jobs to 50,000 youth in regular establishment on August 15, 2010 but implementing agencies failed to take any action in this respect, he said.
Similarly, the government announcement in August 2010 to engage 43,000 candidates in various departments on casual basis, daily rated basis also did not materialise due to lack of will and neglect of the issue, the JKNPP leader said.
Employment projects like ‘Himayat’ and ‘Udaan’ which aim at skill development initiative for training and placement, launched by the Centre and the state government have failed to derive the desired results, he said.
The announcements made by the government in this regard have remained confined to files, he said.
Singh claimed that though lakhs of rupees were spent on employment fairs organised by the government, the state youths did not benefit from such events.
He said likewise the over-seas employment corporation announced by the state government in 2009 proved to be a “gimmick.”
JKNPP Chairman today appealed the students and youth to come forward in large numbers to support and strengthen the party so as to usher a new era of progress, prosperity and peace in the state.
