Srinagar – As many as 12.20 lakh cfts timber has been stocked against the target of 13 lakh cfts, out of which 7.24 lakh cfts have been distributed among the consumers of Kashmir division and revenue of Rs. 11.35 crore realized upto ending September, 2012.
This information was given at a review meeting of officers of the Forest department, State Forest Corporation (SFC) and Forest Protection Force (FPF) chaired by the Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad here today.
Minister stressed for maintaining close coordination between Forest department, SFC and FPF besides taking measures for controlling forest damage at source.
Altaf impressed upon the officers to work with utmost zeal and directed the concerned to distribute timber among the consumers by November 15 as per their requirement.
He asked the concerned authorities to ensure distribution of firewood to the Shia community before the holy month of Muharram.
He also stressed for intensifying monitoring for the preservation of green gold in the State.
