Ensure Hassle-Free Gas Availability To Consumers
Srinagar (ONS) – Underscoring the need for enhanced daily availability of gas cylinders, chief minister, Omar Abdullah, Thursday asked the oil companies to ensure time-bound completion of gas-connection papers and to resume home delivery of LPG cylinders.
The chief minister also directed full utilization of LPG bottling plant at Pampore to ensure smooth delivery to consumers. He asked the companies to ensure hassle-free availability of non-subsidized LPG cylinders.
It should be the option of the consumer to obtain either subsidized or non-subsidized LPG cylinders as per his wish he said asking the companies not to put any condition.
Taking stock of the supply and demand of LPG cylinders at a joint meeting of state officials and representatives of oil companies here, the chief minister said the government would not tolerate any artificial scarcity or black-marketing of LPG. He told the companies to sensitize their dealers and to ask them redouble their efforts to complete the papers provided by consumers to obtain new connections or transfer existing ones on fast track.
Smooth availability of LPG cylinders to consumers should be made a bench mark of the functioning of supply system by oil companies he said, asking them to work out immediate mechanism of providing LPG cylinders to the consumers at their homes.
Home delivery should be ensured within the shortest possible time as is prevalent elsewhere in the country he told them.
He reviewed the supply and stock position of essential commodities including kerosene oil and other fuels. He was told adequate stocks of essential commodities were available and buffer stocks had been raised in remote and far flung areas for winter months.
The minister for CA&PD, Qamar Ali Akhoon, the chief secretary Madav Lal, the principal secretary, Finance, Iqbal Khanday, the divisional commissioners, Asgar Samoon and Pradeep Gupta, secretary, CAPD, Muhammad Abbas Dar, and representatives of oil companies were present.
