Srinagar – People in Leh witnessed coldest night so far after the minimum dropped to minus 5.2 degree Celsius while the temperature was below normal elsewhere in Jammu and Kashmir, where the upper reaches had snowfall though the weather remained dry in the plains during the past 24 hours.
A Met department spokesman said the weather will remain mainly dry in Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
People in Leh in Ladakh region witnessed the coldest night after the minimum dropped further this morning.
The met spokesman said the minimum was recorded minus 5.2 degree this morning against yesterday’s minus one degree.
However, there was some improvement in the night temperature at Kargil, border town on the Srinagar-Leh national highway.
Against yesterday’s minus one degree, it was 0.2 degree this morning. In the valley ski resort of Gulmarg, where the upper reaches received fresh snowfall, remained coldest though the minimum had improved this morning.
The minimum was minus 3.2 degree this morning against yesterday’s minus five degree. There was however, slight drop in the minimum temperature at Pahalgam.
Against yesterday’s minus 1.4 degree, it was minus 1.6 degree this morning. People in summer capital, Srinagar, continued to shiver as the minimum remained two degree below normal this morning. The temperature remained below normal elsewhere in the Valley, Met spokesman said. Agencies
