Srinagar – Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon convened a meeting of officers to finalize the arrangements for the arrival of Hajj pilgrims from Makah here today.
The meeting was informed that the Hajj pilgrims after completion of Hajj-2012 shall return from Makah and will arrive at Srinagar Airport on November 02, 2012 at 11 a.m. On the first day of arrival, as many as 270 Hajj pilgrims shall arrive through a single flight of Indian Airlines shall reach the International Airport Srinagar while from November 14, two flights shall be operated carrying as many as 540 Hajj pilgrims and shall reach at the Srinagar Airport at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. respectively.
This was reported by the Executive Officer, State Hajj Committee, Srinagar during the meeting.
It was decided in the meeting that for each Hajj pilgrim, one attendant and a vehicle with driver are allowed to reach the Srinagar Airport well in time for the convenience of Hajj pilgrims.
The Airport authorities during the meeting assured that necessary arrangements for Custom, Emigration clearance, parking of vehicles of attendants, sanitation, deployment of Home Guard voluntarees, issuance of entry passes to the deployed officials at the Airport besides the heating arrangements at the reception longue shall be put in to ensure smooth and hassle free arrival of hajj pilgrims.
It was also informed that there are least chances of flight cancellation as INS has already been installed at Srinagar International Airport.
Adequate accommodation arrangements have also been made for the hajj pilgrims of Leh, Kargil and Jammu divisions at Hajj house.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir exhorted upon the officers of different departments to work with coordination and synergistic approach during the arrival of hajj pilgrims to facilitate their arrival at Srinagar International Airport. He also stressed for smooth traffic management and cleanliness in and around the Airport besides proper arrangements for the attendants accompanying the hajj pilgrims.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Chief Engineer PDD, M&RE, Joint Director, Fire and Emergency Services, Joint Director Information Kashmir, Director Srinagar International Airport, Deputy Director Customs, Srinagar, Station Manager, Indian Airlines besides officers of police department.
