Srinagar – Temperature fell to minus five degrees of Celsius in Gulmarg on Wednesday as the famed ski-resort received another light coating of snow in the morning, reports said.
Though mercury has dropped markedly across the Valley due to fresh snowfall in some high-altitude areas, most of Kashmir basked in mellow autumn sunshine today after several overcast days.
The meteorological department has forecast dry weather over the plains in the next twenty-four hours, saying that rain and snow was likely in the higher reaches.
According to weathermen, mercury has dropped four degrees below normal in Gulmarg which received the seasons first snowfall last week.
Early on Wednesday morning, the mountain retreat recorded another 3 inch thick coating of white.
In Pahalgam, to the south of the Valley, the minimum temperature was recorded at minus 1.4 degrees, three notches below normal, the met office said.
The Jammu region too stayed two degrees colder than usual, registering 2 on the Celsius scale this morning, it said. (Observer News Service)
