Stresses On Importance Of Child Rights Protection
Srinagar – Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today stressed on the importance of enlarging awareness about protection and child rights in the country. Vohra said this during his discussion with member of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), New Delhi Dipa Dixit, who called on him at Raj Bhavan here.
He observed that children in need of special care and protection, particularly those in distress, belonging to the disadvantaged sections of society, and those affected by terrorism and other unfortunate circutances, require very special attention.
During the meeting, Dixit discussed with the Governor several important issues relating to the protection and promotion of child rights.
She briefed the Governor in detail about the activities of NCPCR in J&K which are aimed at securing the child rights.
Other issues which came up for discussion during the meeting included juvenile justice system and the need for setting up a State Commission for Protection of Child Rights in J&K.
