Expresses gratitude for construction of Z-Morh tunnel
New Delhi – Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD), Qamar Ali Akhon paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to express his gratitude on behalf of the people of Kargil for approving construction of Z-Morh Tunnel on Srinagar-Kargil- Leh National Highway (NHW).
The Minister apprised Dr. Singh about the geographical and topographical conditions of Kargil which remains cut off for more than 6 months from other parts of the country. He appealed Prime Minister for making necessary efforts for starting construction work on 6.2 KM long Ist -phase tunnel so that all weather transport facilities are ensured for the people of the twin districts of Kargil and Leh.
Akhoon also requested for starting of construction on 2nd Phase of 13 KM tunnel which has already been approved by the State Government so that these snow bounded areas are connected with other parts of the country.
