Srinagar – Drug De addiction centre Baramulla organized an drug abuse awareness programme at DPL Baramulla with J&K Police and CRPF 153 & 154 Bn.
Dr. Anayat Mir Chief Warden Civil Defence Baramulla spoke regarding the problem of drug abuse in India and J&K. Expressing concern regarding the alarming rise of drug abuse in youth of Kashmir; he stressed on the need of awareness in general masses regarding drug abuse, its causes and preventive measures. He further emphasized that drug addiction is an illness and the people involved in drug addiction should be treated like other sick patients and brought to professional help.
Apart from that, he also sensitized corps regarding how to recognize and deal with such individuals during crises.
Later Ian Khan (Clinical Psychologist) DDC DPL Baramulla spoke regarding Drug De- Addiction and the role of psychotherapy and counseling in it. He emphasized that people with mental illness including substance dependence need more than just drug therapy.
The corps showed great interest and enthusiasm in the whole programme and asked many questions and cleared various queries.
