Srinagar – Three persons, including a policeman, were arrested for snatching a car in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, a police spokesman said today.
Constable Mohammad Altaf Wani along with two other persons Fayaz Ahmad Dar and Shabir Ahmad Baba were arrested by a police party while they were fleeing in a car which they had snatched from its owner at Bijbehara, 45 kms from here, last evening, the spokesman said.
It claimed that Police swung in action and intercepted the car at a naka checking at KP road, in the jurisdiction of police Station Anantnag.
Three persons Fayaz Ahmad Dar son of Muhammad Subhan Dar resident of Gadhanzpora, Bijbehara, Shabir Ahmad Baba son of Muhammad Yousuf resident of Gund Nowroze, Bijbehara and Muhammad Altaf Wani son of Ghulam Ahmad resident of Naina, Batapora, Bijbehara were arrested and the snatched car has been seized by Anantnag police.
A case FIR no: 303/ 2012 under section 392/RPC and 7/25 IA Act has been registered in this regard and investigation has been initiated.
Muhammad Altaf Wani is reported to be working as Constable in J&K Police and is presently posted in Srinagar District. According to the District Police authorities, Srinagar the said constable is absent from his duties since last one month and has been suspended. Departmental enquiry has been initiated against the accused Constable.
