Anantnag – Chairman Public Accounts Committee and MLA , Rafi Ahmed Mir has convened a meeting of the officers of Tourism, Housing & Urban Development, JKTDC, and Chief Executive officers of Phalgam and Kokernag Development Authorities here today.
Members of the Committee and MLAs, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Syed Basharat Bukhari, . Nizam-ud-Din Bhat and s. Indu Pawar were present on the occasion.
The Meeting was told that the famous Pahalgam tourist destination will be provided adequate developmental infrastructure and better sanitation facilities, as 70% of the total tourists visit this famous spot.
The meeting was told that 4.99 crore have been estimated for construction of Phalgam club and added that three blocks of the club will be completed by ending March 2013 while the other works of circular road Phalgam after completion will be black topped in next year.
The District Development Commissioner Anantnag, . Farooq Ahmed Shah informed the meeting that the construction work of Pahalgam hospital will be started in next year, and added due to huge rush of Amarnath devotees, tourists and local people, this project needs more attention.
The Committee also reviewed the achievements made by Rural development department under centrally sponsored schemes like MGNREGA and IAY. It was informed that Rs. 13.57 crore against an allocation of Rs. 22crore have been booked on the completion of 1880 works. Under MGNREGA 70876 job cards distributed and 6.05 lakh mandays were generated. It was also told in the meeting that under IAY out of 3377 targeted houses, at an allocation of Rs. 12 crore, 1664 houses were constructed with an expenditure of Rs. 4.36 crore.
The Committee also inspected Ziyarat Road Aishmuqam, which has been black topped by PMGSY. Out of the 116 road schemes, 59 schemes have been completed with an expenditure of Rs. 96.84 crore and under PMGSY, 37 kms have been black topped. The Committee also visited Kotheer spring in Shangus also. The concerned MLA recommended for construction of park at the site and also stressed for construction of two tourists Huts at Achabal Garden.
The Committee also suggested to identify land for cable car corporation project at Aishmuqam, construction of sports stadium at Pahalgam, construction of Madumati park at Bandipora, road connectivity for Chota Amarnath and directed the tourism authorities to conduct tourism festivals at Pahalgam and Achabal also.
