Mangalore: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the BJP government in Karnataka.
Addressing a rally here, Sonia said people want to get rid of corrupt state governments.
Speaking on the recent fuel price hike, she said the UPA government has been forced to hike prices of cooking gas and diesel.
She asked why has the Karnataka government not hiked the cap on subsidised LPG cylinders, like done by Congress governments? Why VAT on diesel has not been reduced in Karnataka?
Sonia said the UPA government has given Rs 80,000 crores to Karnataka in the past five years.
talking about measures against corruption, the Congress president said the UPA government had brought RTI to fight graft. Scams are being exposed with the help of RTI, she said.
The UPA government wanted to bring Lokpal but the BJP stalled it, she said further.
On retail FDI, Sonia said the NDA too was planning to bring a similar policy. Pitching for retail FDI, Sonia said it will ensure link between farmers and the market.
