Recommends for Dev of Khushalsir, Anancharsir, Nigeen Lake
Srinagar – The Committee on Estimates (EC) of J&K Legislative Assembly headed by its Chairman Ch. Mohammad Ramzan Thursday recommended preservation and development of Khushalsir, Anacharsir and Nigeen Lake. In this pursuit, the panel directed the Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) immediately.
The Committee, which met today with its Members Hakeem Mohammad Yasin, . A. R. Veeri, . Abdul Gaffar Sofi, . Ashwani Kumar, Sharma, . Mohammad Yasin Shah, Ch. Zulfikar Ali and . Mohammad Ashraf Mir gave their valuable suggestions for the improvement of Dal Lake. The panel directed the officers of H&UDD to gear up their field functionaries for speeding up the pace of work on all ongoing projects including Sewerage Treatment Plants(STPs) taken in hand for conservation of Dal Lake and complete them in a stipulated time frame.
Threadbare discussion was held on working of H&UDD besides audit paras pertaining to the department.
The Committee observed that the money allocated for the conservation and development of Dal Lake should be utilized properly and judiciously. It stressed for restoration of this prestigious world famous Dal Lake.
The Committee decided to have on the spot inspection of Dal Lake to take stock of measures taken by the LAWDA for the conservation and protection of said lake in the next week.
Principal Secretary, H&UDD . Suresh Kumar Sharma briefed the Committee about the physical and financial achievements registered by the Lake and Water Ways Development Authority (LAWDA) for the conservation of Dal Lake. He informed that Rs. 346 crore have been incurred on the project out of an estimated cost of Rs. 455 crore so far.
It was informed in the meeting that out of 10 Intermediate Pumping Stations (IPS) to take care of neutralization of Gradient, 5 have been completed and rest 5 are to ready to be connected to STPs Hazaratbal, Habak, Laam (Nishat), Brari Numbal and Nallah Amir Khan for establishing around the Dal Lake which will help to plug the contaminated water into Dal Lake.
Among others, Vice Chairman, LAWDA, . Irfan Ahmed Shah and other concerned officers of H&UDD besides senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
