Speaker asks Panches, Sarpanches to be aware from vested interests
Srinagar – Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Mohammad Akbar Lone Saturday said that after the successful conduct of Panchayat elections, the government has announced the conduct of election to Block Development Councils (BDC) for strengthening the democratic set up at grass-root level and setting up of 3-tier government in the State.
Lone said that the elections for Panchayats were held in the State and it proved a great success with the overwhelming response from masses. He said that present government under the young and dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah ensured that these elections are conducted after a long gap of 33 years which is a land mark achievement.
The Speaker was addressing Punches and Sarpanches of Sonawari Constituency at Inderkote and Naidkhai today. He said that now the government announced to conduct the elections for Chairmen of Block Development Councils and Government will surely succeed in fulfilling the aspirations of people and giving them authority to work with enthusiasm and zeal for progress and prosperity of the State.
