Launches renovation work at G-Nagar, Sect-A Greenbelt
Jammu – Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla has asked the Floriculture department to gear up its men and machinery to maintain and renovate all the recreational parks situated in Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar localities.
The Minister issued the directions to the concerned after laying foundation stone for upgradation of Gandhi Nagar, Sector-A recreational park, here today.
Bhalla said the Government was committed to develop healthy environment in the urban cities by developing more and greener patches on the open spaces, adding that for this purpose, a comprehensive plan has been prepared to develop all the parks with facilities like seating, drinking water, sprinkle irrigation, illuminated walkway, landscaping and fencing. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the parks and help in maintaining these clean .
The Minister said the Government was making all out efforts to beautify all the open spaces by developing walkways or recreational parks to make the city more attractive. He called upon the people to avail the benefits of such places by going for morning and evening walks. He said exercise and walk was a natural mood elevator and helps in promoting feelings of happiness, besides easing depression. He said walking gets you going, revs up your circulation and gives you the energy to get through the day. He said human body is the ultimate exercise machine and walking is the easiest and safest way for most people to re-energizes their bodies and burn away the harmful effects of stress.
Responding to the local demands, . Bhalla asked the JMC and Floriculture departments to work in coordination to remove bushes besides renovation of damaged walkways. He called upon the people of the Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar not to dump building as well as waste material in parks, adding that such practices are not only creating hindrances for executing agencies but also dampens the beauty of park. He said It is the duty of every citizen to maintain cleanliness at nearby parks.
The Minister said instructions have been issued to the JMC, R&B, Floriculture, PDD and PHE departments to take up sanitation, repair of faulty street lights, renovation of public places, besides ensure regular drinking water and improved power supply in view of the upcoming festival season.
