Work on additional academic block at Womens College Nawakadal to start soon: Gul

Discusses proposal for new degree college at Sadpora, Idgah

Srinagar: Advisor to the Chief Minister, Mr. Mubarak Gul today convened a high level meeting to discuss matters pertaining to the construction of additional academic block at Government College for Women at Nawakadal and the construction of new Degree College at Saidpora, Idgah.

The meeting was attended by the Principal Womens College, Nawakadal and officers and officials of JKPCC and education Department.

In view of the of the increasing student roll in the Nawakadal college and insufficient accommodation it was decided that the construction work on the additional block should be started as soon as possible.

It was apprised in the meeting that project report of Rs. 1356.57 lakh has been submitted by the MD, JKPCC for the phase wise construction of the multi story building of the Women College Nawakadal and as such Rs. 2.85 lakh will be released as first installment for starting the work immediately. Further it was decided that a modern style canteen will also be provided in the ground floor of the building.

The meeting also discussed a proposal for construction of New Degree College, on land measuring 67 kanals at Sadpora Idgah for which a project report has been prepared by JKPCC. The estimated construction of the project is Rs. 23.29 crore. It was decided in the meeting that the matter will be referred to the Higher Education Department for inclusion in the next list of colleges to be taken up for construction.

Mr. Gul stressed upon the engineers for adopting modern styles and suitable shapes keeping in view the modern requirements of education in the colleges.
