Srinagar: The government today admitted that J and K property in Delhi, Mumbai and other states was under illegal occupation, but that it was trying to get the encroachment undone.
Detailing the state governments properties in Delhi, it said that J and K was in possession of only 17 out of over 125 kanals of land it owned at various places in the capital.
It said that 96 kanals had been taken on lease by the defence ministrys Military Engineering Wing, while 1 kanal and 11 marlas was under the Central Public Works Department (CPWD).
In Mumbai, the quarters of the resident commissioner have been constructed on 2646 sq ft of land, while a guest house stood on another 1436 sq ft, the government said.
A duplex flat system stands on 5672 sq ft on Rupareil Road, and 5802 sq ft on Panansi Road have been given on a 90-year-lease to a construction company in 1991, it said.
In Chandigarh, a JK House has been constructed on 7 kanal 10 marlas, while a commercial complex on 812 sq yards in sector 17 is under the union ministry of labour, it said.
