Srinagar – Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla in reply to a question by Jahagir Hussain Mir informed the House that for one time permanent settlement of POK Refugees, the matter has been taken up with Prime Minister of India.
Regarding number of unemployed youth of West Pakistan Refugees living unsettled in the State, the Minister said that no survey has been conducted to identify the number of such unemployed youth of West Pakistan Refugees. However, 4745 families consisting of 21979 souls had migrated to the State during the holocaust of 1947, he said.
Regarding their settlement, recruitment and voting rights, the matter is being referred to cabinet Sub-Committee headed by Finance Minister for further deliberation and consideration, the Minister maintained.
