Srinagar – Chairman Legislative Council, . Ait Malhotra today ordered the constitution of a House Committee to go into the entire gamut of conversion of residential areas into commercial ones in violation of the Master Plan in the capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu.
Ajay Kumar Sadhotra would be the Chairman of the Committee while legislators . Jugal Kishore Sharma, . B.R.Kundal, Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and . Mohammad Ashraf Mir would be its members.
The Committee has been asked to submit its report by or before the next session of the House (Budget Session 2013).
As per the orders all the concerned government departments, the Municipal Corporations of Srinagar and Jammu, the Srinagar Development Authority and the Jammu Development Authority have been asked to cooperate with the House Committee in every respect and concealment of any fact, document or record or non-cooperation of any sort, or obstruction of any kind would be deemed as a breach of privilege of the House.
The decision was taken after discussion on C.Q.No. 148 tabled by . B.R.Kundal on which a number of legislators expressed their concern on the rampant conversion of residential areas into commercial ones in the State in general and the cities of Srinagar and Jammu in particular.
