Students, Gandhians Pay Floral Tributes to Mahatma Gandhi
Jammu – Gandhi Global Family (GGF) today paid homage to the Mahatma Gandhi, on his 143rd Birth Anniversary at Dewan e Aam Mubarak Mandi Jammu.
Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports and Technical Education R. S. Chib was the chief guest, while Director School Education Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi was also present.
Besides, school children from over a dozen institutions and thousands of Gandhian workers paid floral tributes to the Mahatma holding National Flags high in their hands and enchanting Gandhi Bhajans.
Speaking on the occasion, R. S. Chib said that Mahatma was still alive in the hearts of the people, the world over. He said that the coming generation may not believe that such a person ever existed in the history of Indian Sub continent who drove the mightiest colonists of the time, the Britishers, out of the country with the power of his world acclaimed power of Non Violence, honesty, truth and simplicity. He said that the whole world was indebted to him and has chosen Non Violence and Truth as the guiding principles for restoration of peace & stability in the world. He said that the greatest tribute to the Mahatma will not be in singing his praises but in following his teachings. He suggested Gandhi Global Family members to coordinate with him at the earliest in order to install a new statue of Gandhi ji at Mubarak Mandi and improve the overall look of the area around Dewan-e-Aam.
Director School Education, Gulzar Ahmed Qureshi, while paying Floral tributes to the Father of the Nation, said that he has seen a Gandhi in each and every child as he has experienced Gandhian principles of truth, care and compassion embedded deep in their behavior as. He appreciated the role of the Gandhi Global Family in organising such programmes by involving children in the programme.
He said that the education department was going to organise symposia on Truth & Non Violence in each and every institution so that the coming generations learn the value of sacrifice, self discipline and simplicity.
State General Secretary, Gandhi Global Family, K. K. Gandotra, said that the purpose of organising such programmes was to strengthen the faith of the common people in sacrifices made by Mahatma for the Nation. This will also make people to understand his simplicity, his wisdom, his understanding of the countrymen and his sacrifices for the Nation.
Wing Comdr. M. M. Joshi, Chairman Finance, Gandhi Global Family said It is the time we should remember all those National Heroes because of whom we are living as citizens of a free Nation. He also remembered another great jewel of the nation Lal Bahadur Shastri who was also born on this fortunate day.
He said that he is privileged to have worked with Didi Nirmal Deshpande, the greatest of the Gandhi disciples, and said that true pleasure comes from the ability and willingness to give rather to take. He thanked students of Sainik School, Shangrilla School, Mubarak Mandi School, New Era School, Light House School, Lawrence Public School for participating in the programme.
