Srinagar – Expressing its happiness over the successful tourism in the summer, the Hoteliers Club Tuesday urged the government to upgrade the basic infrastructure for the winter season.
The Hoteliers Club, in an executive meeting today, said 2012 saw good influx of tourists to Valley
The summer season was very successful for tourism and we are expecting good rush of tourists for winter season also, chairman Hoteliers Club Mustaq Ahmad Chaya said.
The Hoteliers Club said for the successful winter tourism government should upgrade infrastructure and improve electricity.
Kashmir is a brand but the poor infrastructure spoils everything. Government should connect all the tourist spots with better roads. We also should have round the clock electricity during winter season at tourist spots so that tourists enjoy their stay in Valley, said Chaya.
The Hoteliers Club also expressed its concern over the cap on the supply of LGP cylinders.
Hoteliers Club urged the government to increase the cap to nine as, it said, Kashmir should be taken as a special case.
Kashmir is different from rest of India. The Valley remains cut off during snow which is blocking the essentials to this region. We face shortage of the cooking gas most of the time. Government should increase the cap so that gas shortage is overcome, said Chairman Hoteliers Club.
The Hoteliers Club, however, appreciated the tourism department for promotion tourism outside the State.
Tourism Department is making its efforts to promote Kashmir.
The members in the meeting hailed the FAM tour organized by tourism department for tour operators from other countries.
