Srinagar – The National Conference today while endorsing the stand of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah about Panchayat Raj Act also rejected the demand of implementing the 73rd and 74th amendments of Constitution in the state.
We have our own constitution, the spirit of 73rd amendment and its pre-requisites have already been incorporated in the state Panchayat Raj Act and this act is best in the country. If we have to amend our Constitution we will do that, National Conference Spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said here today.
“Implementing 73rd and 74th amendments of Indian constitution in the state is not necessary in J&K and NC endorses the stand of the Chief Minister that 73rd and 74th amendments were not needed here he added.
With the ensuing BDC elections and its formation the powers of Panchayats will grow manifold said Sadiq. Lambasting the PDP and its president the NC spokesman said that they are ignorant and issueless and are taking sadistic pleasure out of the miseries of the people.
The level of frustration is so evident on the faces of PDP leaders that now they are trying to rake up issues which stand already addressed and fulfilled by the Omar Abdullah led government said Tanvir.
Castigating PDP and its leadership for double standard, the NC Spokesman said that this party never talked of self rule, demilitarization, double currency and resolution of K-issue, RTI, AFSPA, Panchayat Election when it was in power for fear of losing the Chief Ministers chair but Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has always presented true picture of Jammu and Kashmir at highest forums in the country. “Omar Sahib is not like them who raised slogans like self rule, double currency, demilitarization etc when they were out of power. They did it only to create difficulties for Azad Sahib otherwise they were having no love for these slogans”, Tanvir said adding Our coalition with congress is strong and successful and that is giving sleepless nights to them.
Attacking the opposition Tanvir said PDP is an accomplice in creating a situation that has resulted in tens of thousands of graves, thousands maimed young and old, they have to answer more questions than they can perhaps answer The NC Spokesman said because of the relentless efforts of this government the enactment and implementation of Pubic Service Guarantee Act happened. He said by constituting State Commission under Right to Information Act, government has given authority to common man to ask questions to the government. He said the State Accountability Commission has been made fully autonomous and powerful that it can question anyone.
