Srinagar – A meeting of the Board of Directors of Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation Limited (JKTDC) was held today under the Chairmanship of the Minister for Tourism, Mr. Rigzin Jora.
Minister of State for Tourism and Home, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani was also present in the meeting.
The Board while reviewing the performance of the Corporation, approved the provisional Balance Sheet and profit & loss account of the Company for the year 2011-12 alongwith Directors report. The Board also approved the proposal of enhancing Dearness Allowance by 5% to 40% from October Ist, 2012.
The meeting was informed that the enhancement will result an annual financial implications of Rs.60 lacks approximately, which shall be met out of the own resources of the Corporation. The Board also approved the proposal of regularizing those temporary workers who have been engaged upto 1997.
As a token appreciation, the Board also approved one months salary as award in favour of MD, JKTDC, Mr. Satish Nehru.
Earlier, the Managing Director, JKTDC informed the meeting that the the bed capacity of the Corporation is 3862 per day currently. Besides, the Corporation has 33 restaurants and cafeterias.
The meeting was further informed that during 2012-13 from April to July, the Corporation has earned net revenue of Rs.16.35 crore. It was also stated that an amount of Rs. 1.31 crore has been deposited with the PDD during 2011-12, clearing liability of Jammu division in full and all the facilitations including TRC Srinagar of Kashmir Division.
The meeting was also told that the record achievement of the Corporation during 2011-12 was due to constant monitoring and innovations and by giving sale targets to different units and continuously monitoring revenue receipt and expenditure of each unit. It was also stated that New Tour and Travel packages were introduced for each season of the year for attracting more and more tourists to JKTDC destinations.
Later addressing the meeting, the Minister said that the Government is continuously making efforts to provide best infrastructure to the tourists at every tourist resort and in this connection already a number of steps have been taken by the Government.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, Financial Department, Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Khandy, CommissionerSecretary, Tourism Department, Mr. Atal Dulloo, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. Talat Parvez Rohella, Special Secretary Planning, Mr. M. H. Malik and other officers.
