Poonch – Senior National Conference leader and additional General Secretary of the party, Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal today came down heavily on the opposition parties, particularly PDP, saying that were frustrated to witness the historical decisions taken by the Omar Abdullah led coalition government in the state.
The government has taken landmark initiatives including RTI, accountability Commission, SKEWP, Panchayat elections in the state during the last three and a half years which has added thrust to the working and transparency of government departments, Dr Kamal said, while addressing public meetings at Chakantala Bagh in Poonch
He said that PDP wants to grab power by all means and its leadership is trying their best to weaken the coalition government in the state for their pity political gains but added that NC-Cong coalition is successful and strong
People of Jammu and Kashmir have not forgotten the dubious role PDP played in destabilizing the Azad led government in 2008 and then the effort to subvert the elections of 2008. The only politics PDP knows is a politics of dubious machinations of destabilizing the states political framework, Dr. Kamal said.
Lambasting people who claim rigging in 1987 election Dr. Kamal said that the election are conducted by the Election commission of India and not by any political party and anybody doubting the election process is directly pointing fingers at the fairness and integrity of these institutions or commissions .
PDP will face many defeats because of their wrong policies and anti- people stand and people will defeat them overwhelmingly said Kamal.
Countering the claim that water of the state were sold by NC, Dr. Kamal said that it was the then government in 1960 of India, Pakistan and of the state when Indus water treaty was signed. He said most of the NC leadership including Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah was in Jail How can anyone from our party sign it he asked This proves how these anti people leaders have all along tried to weaken the special status of our state by coming in different faces and different motives he added But let me assure everyone NC will fight and represent the genuine aspiration of the people and we will sacrifice everything for them said Kamal.
Dr. Kamaal who is on a three day tour was accorded warm welcome at Pir Ki Gali, citing Mughal road, Kamaal said This road was conceived and the work was started by Sher e- Kashmir in 1978 against an allocation of Rs 20.00 crores with one R& B Division each at Shopian and Baflias In 1984 -85 it hit a road block when the then Chief Minister late Gulam Mohammad stopped work on it due to report of misappropriation he added It restarted in 1987 under Dr. Farooq Abdullah as Chief Minister and I as PWD Minister of state and by 1988-89 15 Kms were completed from Baflias side with a bridge on Punnar nullah 12 Kms from Baflias and a bridge on Dubjan Nallah on river Rambiasa 18 Kms were completed from Shopian Side
