Srinagar – 5 day regional workshop on State Income and Related Aggregates organized by Directorate of Economics and Statistics, jammu and Kashmir in collaboration with Union Ministry of Statistics and programme Implementation, here on Monday.
The workshop was inaugurated by additional director general, Central Statistics Office, Aasish Kumar who was Chief Guest on the occasion.
Director Economics and Statistics, J&K . B.R. Lachotra, Deputy Director General, Central Statistics Office Dr. Shailaja Sharma officers from National Accounts Division Central Statistical Office , Officers from Himachal Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Punjab and other Officers of Directorate of Economics and Statistics J&K attended the inaugural function.
On the occasion, . Lachotra, appraised the participants about the statistics and economic profile of J&K State and gave detailed overview of the workshop through a PowerPoint presentation. He said the aim of organizing such workshops is to infuse the latest trends of the economy and abreast all its stakeholders about latest tools in calculating the gross domestic product.
Lachotra, said, State and centrally sponsored schemes like Himayat and Udaan seems to prove fruitful for the States economy and up to some extent have helped to reduce the unemployment in J&K. He further said steps are also being taken for working out the District Domestic Products as envisaged in 13th Finance Commission.
Aasish Kumar while delivering inaugural address said that the primary objective of these workshops is to improve estimates of State income and other aggregates. He said we are going to launch pilot survey for information collection for improvement in service sector.
He said that 3 tier system has been approved which will help to strengthen the state economy. He said revival of financial corporations has been taken in hands.
On the occasion Dr. Shailaja Sharma also spoke on the occasion and stressed upon the stakeholders to synergize the efforts to boost the state economy.
A publication on Index of Industrial Production was released on the occasion.
