Srinagar- Following High Court directions asking the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to publish an advertisement through newspapers to direct all dealers, manufacturers and shopkeepers selling polythene to withdraw their stocks within 15 days time, the SMC Anti Polythene Squad has intensified its anti polythene drives across the city.
The squad has launched at least 4o prosecutions against the violators/offenders in a weeks time and today around 15 quintal of polythene was destroyed in the premises of Central Municipal Office at Karanagar which was recovered during the routine market check by Anti polythene Officer Mir Mansoor, the SMC said in a statement issued to press.
Meanwhile, the Enforcement wing of the Corporation has demolished plinths of unauthorized construction at Hamdania colony Bemina and Rakhi Arakh Durbal in the city outskirts.
First floor of a building which was illegally being raised at SafaKadal near Dhar School was also razed down by the concerned squad during the routine inspection, the statement added.
