Srinagar- In order to ensure availability of cooking gas, the state government has decided that the customers of the Valley will get LPG as per past practice till 15th of October 2012.
An official press statement said the customers shall have to fulfil certain conditions including submission of requisite form known as, Know Your Customers (KYC) for activation of the existing connections in order to ensure hassle free availability of LPG..
This was decided in a meeting convened by Director, Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) Mir Mushtaq Ahmad today with the representatives of Oil Companies and LPG Distributors of Valley.
The Director said that in case of transfer of the connection the customer shall have to apply to the oil companies through their authorised dealers and in respect of new connections the desiring customers shall have to apply to the company for issuance for the same.
The customers have also been advised that in case of change of house hold address they should surrender multiple connections immediately. Any violations are viable to be punished with fine, imprisonment under Essential Commodities Act, they said.
The consumers have also been advised to surrender their LPG multiple connections indicating the name and company to the distributors are registered with their intent to surrender the duplicate connections via internet through the LPG portal without waiting for blocking are intimation from OMCs or their LPG distributors.
Accordingly consumers/House holders who will be left only a single cylinder connection after surrendering other connections will have the option of converting the remaining connection into a Double Bottle Connection (DBC).
It was further decided that Oil Marketing Companies (IOC, BPC and HPC) should identify consumers, household addresses with multiple connections within and across companies. These will be blocked till all multiple connections are surrendered. In this connection, the customers would have to approach the distributors with his latest proof and address documents with filled up the Know Your Customer (KYC) form and submit the same for reactivation of one domestic connection.
The general public has been advised to cooperate with the department to get hassle free LPG in future.
