Srinagar – Calling upon the separatist leadership to come to the negotiating table, the ruling Nation Conference on Sunday hailed the Hurriyat (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, for his statement denouncing the killings of panchayat members.
At the sidelines of a party rally in Milgam, Anantnag, senior NC leader and MP Dr. Mahboob Beig told reporters that Geelanis statement was welcome and reflected sagacity.
The parliament member however came down heavily on the PDP chief Mahbooba Mufti, saying that she had never raised the issues facing her district despite being an elected public representative.
He said that in parliament he had forcefully rebutted accusations that Kashmiri youth were being hired for Rs 500 for pelting stones during the 2010 summer agitation.
I told the parliament that no mother would send her son into the jaws of death for Rs 500, he said.
