Srinagar – Nominated Mufti Azam, Mufti Nasirul Islam, Sunday joined issue with veteran separatist leader and Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman, Syed Ali Shah Geelani, over the latters statement that there was no need for the Americans to leave the valley. The statement had come in response to Mufti Azam, Mufti Muhammad Bashir-ud-dins diktat to the US nationals to leave the valley in the wake of blasphemous movie against the holy Prophet (pbuh).
There are elements in our society who are trying to exploit this situation and trying to redress this whole situation for their political gains and for the sake of aggrandizement. We would like to tell those people to understand the overwhelming sentiment that is going around in the entire Muslim world against Israel and United States of America. By asking American citizens to leave Kashmir, we were expressing that very sentiment that flows in our veins, our love for our Prophet (pbuh) that far transcends any worldly love for power or fame, Mufti Nasirul Islam said in a statement.
The statement titled, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam rebuts supporters of USA was issued to the press late on Sunday.
Mufti said not all Americans were bad and those who insulted our beloved Prophet (pbuh) were a select few. However, we must show them that their so-called freedom of speech does not mean freedom to insult other religions and incite hatred, Mufti Nasir said, adding the movie portrays Muslim as immoral and gratuitously violent, pokes fun at the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and touches on themes of pedophilia and homosexuality, while showing him sleeping with women, talking about killing children and referring to a donkey as the first Muslim animal, (astagfirullah).
What lies behind this wicked move is the hostile policies of Zionism, America and other leaders of the arrogant powers, who are trying to brainwash young generations in the Islamic world and causing them to lose respect for what is held most revered. Another actuality that must be noted is that this whole movie is promoted by that hypocrite pastor Terry Jones, who had first indulged in desecration of the Holy Quran and now supports this movie on all public forms and events in a bid to gain publicity and fame, Mufti Nasir said.
Are we not entitled to ask them to leave? Is it not true that the countries who want to express anger with another expel others ambassadors as a way of registering protest? he asked.
Taking a dig at Geelani, Mufti Nasir said, Our narrow-minded critics must know that most of American companies host these videos and promote them on American forums and distribute and spread them using media controlled by the enemies of Islam.
We encourage our critics, some of them who tend to promote themselves in public view for a few seconds of fame, to leave the matters of religious affairs to people who are qualified and can pass judgment in this matter, Mufti Nasir asked Geelani, to read the US and Israeli history and learn from their past about their sinister designs against our beloved Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and Islam.
Reacting to Mufti Nasirs statement, Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesman, Ayyaz Akbar, said the Mufti Azam and his nominee have no base among the people as they were recognized only by the government. Geelani Sahib has no vested interest in whatever he said as Islam is against punishing the innocent, he told Kashmir Observer, adding that Geelanis statement was in tune with the tenets of Islam and teachings of the holy Prophet (pbuh).
