In a sharp attack on Dr. Farooq Abdullah for terming Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India, the Hurriyat (G) on Sunday described the union minister as a Class IV employee of New Delhi, while Mirwaiz Umer Farooq chided him for his outdated tune.
Reacting to Dr. Abdullahs statement that Delhi would not beg separatists for talks, the Mirwaiz reiterated his position of a conducive atmosphere to be created for dialogue (with New Delhi).
The entire world knows who the real representatives of the Kashmiri people are, he said. And no (Indo-Pak) dialogue process will be complete without including the real representatives of the Kashmiri masses.
The Hurriyat is not after perks and power in seeking a resolution of the Kashmir issue, but is representing the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, he said.
In its reaction to the beg for talks statement, the Hurriyat (G) said that it too was neither keen nor under any compulsion to hold talks with New Delhi.
In his anxiety to be more loyal than the king, the union minister forgets that the Hurriyat Conference too has no intention to beg for talks before New Delhi or any Farooq Abdullah, it said.
Kashmir is not even a part of India, not to speak of an integral part, it said.
It understandable why Dr. Abdullah keeps harping on this tune, it said. He has been given a minor ministry in New Delhi, and his son enjoys power in Kashmir on 2 per cent votes only because he is backed and propped by the army.
There can be only one ideal and democratic solution to the Kashmir issue, and that is granting the people of the state the chance to decide their own fate through the right to self-determination, it said.
Though talks are imperative to fix the modalities for this exercise, to make the process meaningful and result-oriented it is necessary that all the three parties be included and Kashmiris be given their due place as the primary party, it said.
Dr. Abdullah, his family and party have an important role in creating the Kashmir issue, it said.
They not only know full well but are also eyewitnesses to the fact the Kashmir is no legitimate part of India, but has been occupied by military might, it said.
Farooq Abdullahs father was put in jail for demanding plebiscite. And it was through the rigours of incarceration that he was induced into surrendering his right, he said.
But Farooq Abdullah issues such statements merely to safeguard his and his sons posts, because he knows that he is not the only pawn of New Delhi in Kashmir but an army of such pawns is always ready here to do Delhis bidding it said.
If Farooq Abdullah incurs New Delhis displeasure for some reason, he know that it (Delhi) will advance some other pawn like Mufti Muhammad Sayeed or Ghulam Nabi Azad to foist itself on Kashmir, it said. Observer News Service
