Besides providing readers with upto date breaking news, compelling content and insightful opinions KO Online covers current news, business, sports, community, tech, lifestyle and world news, as well as expert analysis and dynamic videos.

As the digital companion to Kashmir Observer newspaper, the KO Online is part of a portfolio that offers content through print, KO ePaper and a mobile app.

KO Online remains the main source of news and information for vast Kashmiri diaspora, intending tourists, business leaders, diplomats, journalists and all those interested in India-Pakistan affairs.

Primary responsibilities:

Planning, editing and scheduling social-media content for KO across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and any other social-media platformsLeading campaigns to expand KO’s social-media outreach and subscription base, using current content as well as the archives.

Working with the photo and multimedia team to develop exclusive content for KO’s social-media channel.

Analysing KO audience and developing strategies to better reach and serve it

Preparing regular reports on KO’s social-media and audience engagement and using these to bolster campaign.

Writing and editing newsletters, and managing their delivery.

Engaging with the marketing and administrative teams on driving KO campaigns

Engaging with readers’ and subscribers’ comments and responses.

Requirements:

Candidates with experience in journalism are preferred. Knowledge of design and familiarity with Adobe Photoshop is a bonus. Applicants should be familiar with social-media platforms and analytical tools such as Google Analytics, HootSuite and CrowdTangle. They should exhibit sound editorial judgement and an enthusiasm for KO’s commitment to improving the quality of writing and reporting in India. Candidates from marginalised communities are encouraged to apply.

The KO office in Bangalore is a small shop, and requires team players with a willingness to be flexible. This is a full-time fellowship, for the duration of one year. Night, holiday and weekend work may be required.
