Srinagar Ring Road- Other Side Of The Story
Why online Govt services do not benefit citizens of Jammu & Kashmir? And how people, specially from disadvantaged groups, are the worst hit. Here is this week’s Inkishaaf.
The devastating fire broke out in a multi-storeyed shopping complex in Hazratbal. The complex, which housed several food outlets including Hattrick and Amigos, caught fire around 11:45 AM and soon spread to other compartments. Fire and Emergency Services tried to contain the fire for hours, but it spread to nearby residential houses causing huge losses estimated to be worth crores of rupees. Locals have alleged that the use of domestic LPG cylinders at food outlets caused the fire.
This week’s INKISHAF is on government’s inability to implement the smart solid and liquid management programme for Srinagar Smart City. The model won’t only make Srinagar smart in real sense but will also give people a sigh of relief from the growing canine terror.
Thousands of Muslims in Kashmir staged marches after Friday prayers to express solidarity with Palestinians and demand freedom for Al Aqsa Mosque, the first Qibla of Islam. Demonstrations were held across Kashmir with hundreds of thousands joining prayers at Dargah Hazratbal.
This week’s INKISHAF is on the unscientific dumping of fruit and vegetable waste of Srinagar Fruit Mandi in the city’s landfill site. This waste is wealth and can be converted into compost or compressed biogas.
This week’s INKISHAF is on ire triggered by Aptech, a blacklisted company hired to conduct exams for government jobs. The educated-cum-unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir are protesting the move at a time when administration is scrapping selection lists to upload “transparency”.
