Srinagar: A five-day advanced photography workshop began at the Department of Convergent Journalism (DCJ), Central University of Kashmir at Nowgam-I academic block on Tuesday.
Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Meraj ud Din Mir was the chief guest at the inaugural session of the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor appreciated the initiatives taken by the DCJ from time to time. I ofteninteract with the journalism students and they express satisfaction with the teaching-learning process at the department for which I must acknowledge the efforts of the faculty, he said.
Prof. Mir assured full support of the university administration to the department.
He assured to expedite the process of setting up of state-of-the-art studio for the journalism department at the Ganderbal campus and a makeshift studio at Nowgam-I campus.
Welcoming Prof. Mir, Dean, School of Media Studies, Prof. S. Fayyaz lauded the efforts of the department for organizing series of workshops and interaction sessions with experts from the field of media.
Award-winning photojournalists, Mr. Showkat Nanda and Ms. Tabeenah Anjum Qureshi are the resource persons for the workshop comprising technical sessions and field visits. The photographs taken by the students during the course of the workshop will form part of the photo-exhibition scheduled for the valedictory ceremony.
