Pulwama—Unknown gunmen on Friday looted a bank in Ratnipora village in South Kashmir's Shopian district.
Sources said that three gunmen barged into J&K Bank Ratnipora branch in Shopian district and decamped with around Rs. 2 lakh. The sources said that the gunmen were masked and before making their way to cash counter, they smashed the CCTV cameras.
The gunmen successfully managed to flee from the spot. Soon after receiving information, government forces including army and police rushed to the bank branch and started questioning of witnesses and staff. They also launched searches in Ratnipora area to nab the gunmen.
This is the second incident of its kind within 24 hours in South Kashmir.
On Thursday afternoon, the gunmen in similar way looted J&K Bank Marhama Branch in Sangam area of Anantnag district and decamped with more than five lakh rupees. Police have blamed militants for these heists.
