Srinagar – The National Conference-Congress coalition coordination committee has decided to hold elections for Urban local bodies, Block Development Councils and Legislative council as early as possible. The Committee held thorough discussions on holding elections to Panchayat at Block Level , Election to the J&K Legislative Council through Panchayat and election to Urban Local Bodies, CHariman of the committee Prof Saifuddin Soz said in a statement to KNS. Adding there was consensus on holding these elections, as early as possible. The committee has also decided to frame a detailed mechanism and decide “upon operational technicalities which will guide these Elections. The Committee also initiated to identify personnel to man the vacancies in the Public Service Commission and the backward classes Commission, Soz said. The committee which met here at Hari Niwas today under President of the JKPCC Prof. Saiffudin was attended by Tara Chand Dy. Chief Minister, A. R. Rather Finance Minister, Pt. Mangat Ram Sharma Former Deputy Chief Minister, Ali Mohd Sagar Minister of RDD and Ch. Mohd Ramzan of the National Conference. Sources said, the issues with regard to constitution of State Vigilance Commission also came under discussion. The details and objections raised by the Governor to the nominations submitted earlier to him were discussed, the sources added. However, a member of the panel told KNS, the discussions were held in a cordial manner, despite differences over certain contentious issues. Prof Soz is also believed to have taken up certain developmental problems an asked ministers of both the coalition partners to ensure speedy redressal of peoples grievances. KNS
