Srinagar (ONS) – Former militant commander Palay Khan was killed in a road accident in the Jammu region on Friday, reports said.
Originally named Muhammad Yousuf Ganai, the ex militant was heading from Jammu to Srinagar when the Sumo taxi he was travelling in met with an accident near Nagrota.
The other occupants of the taxi survived the crash but were injured.
The JKLF chief, Muhammad Yasin Malik, who visited Khans family in Pampore for condolence, paid glowing tribute to the ex-militant, describing him as a brave and bold person who had served the movement selflessly for the past 23 years.
All pro-movement people are deeply grieved at Khans sudden death, Malik said.
The chairman of the Peoples League, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, too visited Khans home to convey his sympathy to the bereaved family.
Khan was an embodiment of sacrifice, Waza said at the condolence meeting. The 8 best years of his life were spent in jail.
