Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat (M) on Wednesday released a 25-page report, which castigates the government for the use of absolute force to what it said suppresses the rights of Kashmiris both inside and outside the valley.
“A report about the violation of Human Rights in Kashmir during 2015, prepared by the Human Rights Division of APHC led by Mannan Bukhari and assisted by Mir Imran, was presented before a Hurriyat meeting held at Rajbagh under the Chairmanship of Mirwaiz Umar and afterwards released to the press. The report has touched in detail the situation of Human Rights Violation being committed in Jammu and Kashmir and the consequences of the policy of suppression and oppression being pursued by the government in Kashmir,” Hurriyat (M) in a statement said.
There have been 206 deaths due to incidents of violence during 2015, the report said.
The use of pellet guns to disperse protesters, it said, continued during this year as well.
“It (the report) has also included subjects Denial of Juvenile Rights, E -Curfew, Probes and Inquires, Arrests, Tortures, Use of Pepper Gas, Stun Grenades, Prisoners, Use of Tear Gas, Right to Travel, Enforced Disappearances, Custodial Killings and Fake Encounters, Violation of Religious Rights, VDCs, Harassment of Kashmiris and the current condition of State Human Rights Commission,” the statement added.
The report also criticizes the government for imposing curfews, restrictions on the Internet, lodging juveniles in police stations and jails, and attack on undertrials in various jails.
