Srinagar: Opposition National Conference today slammed at the government for creating row over the appointment of principal Government Medical College here.
Omar said that the government has made a mockery of good governance as the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has appointed one doctor, while his Health and Medical education minister had appointed another.
“Making a mockery of #GoodGovernance – CM J&K appoints 1 (one) Dr (doctor) as principal of Govt Medical College, Health Minister another. Institution suffers!” Omar wrote on social media website, Twitter.
The NC working presidents tweet came day after the government has embroiled itself into controversy over the volunraty retirement of former GMC principal Dr Rafiq Ahmad Pampori and appointing Dr Kaiser Ahmad for the post.
While the health minister Lal Singh appointed Dr Kaisar Ahmad, the chief minister had reportedly asked Dr Rafiq to reconsider his decision and resume his work as principal.
Omar wrote that the appointment of the principal has become clash of egos between the Chief Minister and Health Minister.
“It’s now a clash of egos & a PDP v/s BJP battle. Who gets to decide what’s correct – the Chief Minister or the Minister concerned?” he said.
However, the government cleared the controversy on Tuesday evening by declaring that Dr Kasiar Ahmad will be the principal of the medical college.
