Pulwama: At a time when Food Ministry in Jammu and Kashmir has been making tall claims of providing standard and timely ration to the consumers, locals in South Kashmirs Pulwama district have alleged that CAPD department has added to their woes by supplying sub-standard flour in the last few days.
Reports said that many people have fallen sick after consuming Chappatis at their houses. The flour we have procured from local ration depot turns black after some water is added to it, said a local from Chandrigam. Many people developed constipation and other ailments after consuming chappatis made from such flour and were lodged in sub-district hospital Tral.
Same complaints were made by local residents from Aaligund, Bargam, Nowpor, Amlar, Dadsara, Lalgam, Noorpora and Doonigund hamlets.
Women who queued to the ration shops were shocked to receive poor quality flour. Some even declined to take the stock.
Flour supplied by a ration shop here was of sub-standard quality. Half the quantity of grains was filled with clay, stones, rust etc, a consumer said.
While the Director CAPD did not respond to repeated phone calls, Food Minister Chowdary Zulifkar Ali has assured a probe.
