Srinagar – The meeting of Departmental Related Committee of Legislative Council was today held under the Chairmanship of MLC Sheikh Ghulam Rasool and discussed the functioning of the education department.
The Committee with its members Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Haji Ali Mohammad Bhat gave their valuable suggestions for improving the education scenario in the State.
The Committee held threadbare discussion on the overall functioning of the department and stressed the need for improving the literacy rate and improving the standard of education in government schools.
The Committee stressed the need for implementation of existing transfer policy in letter and spirit. The Committee also discussed the fee structure of private schools and stressed the need for regulating the fee and regular monitoring by the Department.
Secretary Education . Farooq Ahmed Faktoo, Chief Education Officers of Valley and Officers of Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
