Srinagar – A meeting of Labour and Employment was held here today under the Chairmanship of Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment . Abdul Gani Malik. The meeting was convened to discuss the draft agenda for the revision of minimum wages for consideration of the Advisory Board constituted last month.
The meeting was among others attended by Principal Secretary Finance . Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, Secretary Labour and Employment . Yedullah, Labour Commissioner, . Shahid Inayatullah officers of labour and employment department, representatives of J&K Industries, Srinagar and representatives of Indian National Trade Union Congress J&K.
The meeting discussed threadbare the draft agenda for the revision of minimum wages. The Minister asked all the stakeholders to put-forth their concrete suggestions for the purpose so that the revision of minimum wages could be made in the interest of labour class. He said government is committed to better their lot and in this direction several measures including the revision of minimum wages will be done shortly after thorough deliberations.
Principal Secretary Finance M I Khandey sought further details from labour department for the purpose.
